Factual Investigations

We provide insurance investigation services in the following areas:-

(a) Workmen's Compensation claims
All insurance investigations are carried out only by very experienced investigators who possess excellent communications skills. In many instances, ISI may choose to place the claimant under surveillance and obtain the necessary evidence and in other instances, factual investigation might be an option we might adopt. It is a standard requirement for factual investigators to obtain signed statements from the subject and/or any witnesses. Factual investigators also are required to obtain still photographs (forensic photographs) on the scene of the accident, machinery, etc.

(b) Motor vehicle accident claims
From time to time, suspicious motor vehicle accident claims are also investigated using factual means by insurance companies.

Statement from the claimant, statements from all witnesses, photographs from the scene of the accident, photographs of the vehicle concerned, photographs of the area depicting the scene of the accident, a copy of the police report and a completed investigative report which describes in detail the entire investigative process together with a summation and the investigator's comments as to the authenticity and validity of the claim are all gathered by the investigator.

(c) Household burglary claims
On household burglary claims, our investigators will obtain statements from the claimant, alibi witnesses and other witnesses. Photographs of any signs of forceful entry as well as forensic photos of any footmarks, fingerprints and other items left behind by the burglars. A verified report of all the items claimed by the claimant, a copy of the police report made by the claimant and a complete investigative report describing in detail the entire investigative process together with a summary of findings.

(d) Life insurance claims
This is an advanced field of investigation conducted by the most experienced of investigators to determine any fraudulent conduct or criminal activity by the persons making the claim.

A combination of surveillance, background investigation, undercover operation and factual enquiries are necessary to be carried out to determine any discrepancy in the claim made.

(e) Product liability claims
Investigation on such matter focuses on a defective product, a faulty machinery, a malfunctioning system or a failed equipment.

(f) Public liability claims
Usually public liability claims arise from an accident that causes an injury or loss to a person or property to which the liability falls on a public authority.

(g) Arson investigations
Arson investigation is a combined field of factual investigation with an emphasis placed on the element of criminal investigation for any possible criminal wrongdoing. Procedures for this type of investigation is very similar to the previous factual investigations discussed in the earlier paragraphs with an added emphasis placed on determining forensically and by other means the source of the fire.
